The Denton Ballet Academy by Jessica Evans

The Denton Ballet Academy was established in 1979 by Hugh Nini as an institution of classical ballet instruction.

Hugh Nini founded The Denton Ballet Academy in 1979. Though his training and professional career were interrupted early on by a debilitating automobile accident, Mr. Nini was later able to do limited performing with regional ballet companies in the Southwest. In 1979 he founded the Denton Civic Ballet, and by the end of his eight-year term as its Artistic Director, had choreographed over 30 ballets.

The dancers at Denton Ballet Academy warmed up and socialize before they begin practice.

Mr. Nini's philosophy for studying ballet is to combine hard work, commitment, and enthusiasm with an enjoyable classroom atmosphere. "Ballet is my passion, he says. I want my students to leave with the same love for dance that I have."

He is always watching his students practice, even if it is from the shadows.

Mr. Nini challenges his dancers to be precise and graceful. They work hard to meet his expectations.

His dancers develop self-motivation, self-discipline, poise, grace, physical adroitness, stage presence, and an appreciation for the arts, which they carry with them throughout their lives.

After months of hard work, the dancers perform the ballet, while Hugh Nini watches them admirably.
